About me
This year, Lili Akalonu will celebrate 10 years of working in afterschool programs, but her journey in afterschool started long before that. At just 8 years old, Lili became a club kid at the Boys & Girls Club, where her passion for becoming an afterschool leader first began. That passion was inspired by the amazing mentors who supported her along the way, many of which she is still lucky enough to see in the afterschool community today.
Throughout her years of working in afterschool, Lili has earned the nickname “Sunshine,” and she has always done her best to live up to it. Over the years, she has discovered a particular passion for youth leadership and has supported programs such as Leaders in Training (LIT) and Torch Club. Through these experiences, Lili has had the opportunity to empower young people to find their voices, build confidence, and become leaders within their communities.
